課程概述 |
本課程一方面透過電影的影像呈現，引導學生進入美國「歷史」情境，討論美國史上一些重要課題；另一方面，觀察影片製作人對歷史素材的處理，討論歷史記憶的形塑，以及電影反映社會、政治價值等問題。本課程每單元播放一部電影。看片前，教師除先解說該電影內容及拍攝之相關歷史背景外，提供有關該片的「問題單」，提醒學生看電影時應注意的地方。「問題單」不但是教學助理帶討論課時的主題，也是學生撰寫報告的指引。每一個問題的答案，結合起來就是一篇觀影報告。看片後，由助教帶領討論。全部電影在圖書館多媒體中心備有一份拷貝，供學生自行重複看片、查考資料。 |

課程目標 |
本課不在灌輸學生系統知識，而是利用電影影像勾起學生對歷史的興趣，培養學生研究、批判的能力。 |

課程要求 |
1.選修通識的學生挑選兩部電影，各寫一篇2000字左右的觀影報告。
2.非選修通識的同學則以一專題(例如在幾部電影中黑人的形象)為主，撰寫一篇5000字觀影報告。
觀影報告除了參考有關歷史教科書之外，至少要引用課程大綱中所列出的一本參考書(或其中的一篇文章)，做為報告中論述的根據。(引用格式將另行公布在課程網站公布欄上) |
